A new petition has been launched to try to save Haslar Hospital.

It urges the Ministry of Defence, owners of the hospital, to transfer management of the site to the local council when the hospital closes this summer.

Gosport Borough Council have come up with a plan to take it over in partnership with local developers and use the revenue from redeveloping the site to keep services open.

The petition has been launched by Gosport Council leader Dave Smith, who fears that if the Ministry of Defence fail to hand over the site as soon as it closes that medical equipment will quickly deteriorate, rendering it useless.
