Gosport’s Got Talent!
On Sunday 14 June, residents of Gosport are being given the chance to showcase their abilities in
‘Gosport’s Got Talent’; a fun-filled family competition based on the popular television series.
The competition is being held as part of Gosport’s Big Day Out, an event organised by the Gosport
Partnership for the local community.
Karen Morgan, owner of the Alverbank Hotel, came up with idea of running a local talent competition
after watching the show. Karen says: “This has never been done before in Gosport. It’s a great
opportunity for the whole family to demonstrate their hidden talents. We’ve been delighted by the
response so far and would welcome more entrants from all ages!”
With a range of attractions, clubs and societies offering free entry on Sunday 14 June, Gosport’s special
day will culminate in a family picnic at Stokes Bay. There will be music, displays and family games and
activities as well as the announcement at 6pm of the winners of ‘Gosport’s Got Talent’ and the ‘Family
Treasure Hunt’.
Mayor of Gosport, Councillor Diane Searle added: “I am looking forward to joining in with Gosport’s
Big Day Out this year and I am delighted to hear that the Alverbank Hotel is organising the Gosport’s
Got Talent competition as part of it. I know that there are talented people of all ages in Gosport and
hopefully they will want to take advantage of this prize-winning opportunity to share their talents with
us.”
